There is land as far as the eye can see to the east. Thousands of acres have been developed over the past two decades. Marksheffel Road, about eight miles east of downtown Colorado Springs, represents the current limits of cohesive development activity. The Powers Boulevard Corridor extends from Peterson Air Force Base and the municipal airport on the south to the Black Forest on the north. This 11 mile long by 2 mile wide Eastern Plains area stretches from Powers Blvd. east to Marksheffel Road and Woodmen Road then south to Drennan Road and is well known for its rolling hills and picture worthy views of the Front Range.

 This region is recognized for its organized street layout, and neighborhood development. At the far north end of this PWR area; at the most southern tip of the Black Forest, one can still find small acre parcels of land. Parks, golf courses, shopping centers, and the triple-A team, "Sky Sox" weave throughout the newer homes of this area. Peterson A.F.B., Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, and Shriever AFB (Once named Falcon AFB), have been the primary draw to this area as well as those looking to get away from the city buy stay modestly priced. These newer developments are popular with both young families and retirees and for those looking for a simple home on a little acreage it is just a bit further out east.
